Ferrari got hacked and is refusing to pay ransom.
Ferrari has received a ransom demand from a group of cyber criminals, the company said in a statement on Monday.
The criminals threatened to publish stolen customer contact data if it didn't pay up, the automaker toldin an email. Ferrari says the information"purportedly" included customer names, addresses, emails, and phone numbers, but no financial information or information on vehicles owned or ordered. The automaker reached out to customers whose data may have been accessed, but declined to pay the ransom.
"As a policy, Ferrari will not be held to ransom as paying such demands funds criminal activity and enables threat actors to perpetuate their attacks," Ferrari said in a statement. The supercar manufacturer said it's working with a"leading global third-party cybersecurity firm" to investigate the breach and it's notified relevant government authorities. The company says it has worked with third-party experts to harden its systems against further attacks and is"confident in their resilience."
