James R. Cadigan, a Wall Township police sergeant, is charged with money from the PBA union's charity events
Friday with second-degree theft by unlawful taking after investigators discovered money had been missing from charity events held from Oct. 1, 2018, to Nov. 4, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
Cadigan, 40, also gave a recorded interview to the prosecutor’s office in which he made “statements/admissions” to the offense, the affidavit states. Cadigan, who is due to appear in court on Jan. 5, 2023, has been suspended from his job without pay, according to Wall Township Police Chief Sean O’Halloran.
Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago said Monday that members of PBA Local 234 discovered “a significant amount of cash” was missing earlier this year following an annual fundraiser.
