FBI, SDPD investigating attempted robbery at Rancho Bernardo bank [Breaking]

A man left a Rancho Bernardo bank empty handed after trying to rob a teller using a demand note Monday afternoon, according to the FBI.

The failed robbery attempt occurred just before 4:30 p.m. at the California Bank & Trust branch on Bernardo Center Drive across from the Rancho Bernardo Town Center, officials from the FBI’s San Diego field office said in a news release. The would-be bandit handed a demand note to the teller but fled before he received any money, according to the FBI.

Authorities described him as a White man in his 30s with dark hair that was cut short and clean, and a well trimmed beard. He stood between 5 feet 6 inches and 5 feet 10 inches, with a slender build. He wore large sunglasses, a light-colored Hawaiian-style shirt over a white T-shirt, dark pants and tan boots.
