A recent house fire destroyed River Edge resident Artisha Premon's family home. Her neighbors won't let it destroy their lives.
The idea, Debra said, was to help in any way possible. “They left the house with nothing but their lives and the clothes on their bodies ...if we can just take away some of the stress of having to buy new clothes or pay for a hotel, that’s one way we can help.”
The Premons, Debra says, are wonderful, kind neighbors, who always lent a helping hand when needed. To watch their house burn down, she tells me, has caused “unbelievable grief” to all in the neighborhood. River Edge police chief Michael Walker says the cause of the fire was ruled as “undetermined” by the River Edge Fire Department.
Donna Tartini, a River Edge resident who lives about a block away from the Premons, told me though she’d never met the family she too felt compelled to help them.
