PARÍS (AP) — Jean-Louis Georgelin, el condecorado general francés que estaba a cargo de la restauración de la Catedral de Norte Dame en París tras el incendio reciente, falleció.
El presidente Emmanuel Macron rindió tributo el sábado a “uno de los más grandes soldados, uno de los mayores servidores” que ha tenido Francia y quien “piedra por piedra estaba restaurando la belleza herida” de la catedral.
Macron dijo en un comunicado que Georgelin falleció en las montañas, reflejando “una vida siempre orientada hacia las cimas”. El texto no ofreció más detalles. Poco después del incendio en la Catedral de Norte Dame en 2019, Macron designó a Georgelin para encabezar las labores de reconstrucción. Numerosos artesanos de toda Francia están usando materiales y métodos medievales para reconstruir la iglesia.
