The bird was 'drenched and looked confused” when it caught a boat ride to Ocean City and was met by an animal control officer, the family said.
A juvenile osprey struggling in the water off the coast of Ocean City hitched a ride back to shore with a New Jersey family Wednesday before being captured by animal control officials for evaluation.
“We immediately knew we had to help. He looked like he was flailing, he would go underwater and then come back up again a little bit. I mean, he was struggling and he needed help,” Nedin said. The osprey remained on the stern of the boat, riding alongside the family the entire 15-minute trip, according to video the family took of the trip that was posted on social media.An animal control officer captured the osprey in a net at the dock and took it to be evaluated.
