A former executive assistant for POTUS was reportedly unaware there were classified documents in the boxes she packed for the then-VP that were later unpacked at his private office, according to testimony given to the House Oversight Committee.

Kathy Chung, who was Biden’s assistant during the Obama administration, told the committee she didn’t notice there were classified documents in the boxes because she did not closely examine the items while she unpacked them, according to excerpts from her testimony obtained by CNN. Her testimony supports previous comments from Biden, who said he was “surprised” to learn the documents were at the Washington, D.C., office.

“Kathy Chung provided valuable information to the Oversight Committee’s investigation of President Biden’s mishandling of classified documents,” the spokesperson said. “Kathy Chung’s testimony undermines the White House’s narrative of the events. We now know the classified documents were not kept in a locked closet at the Penn Biden Center as the Biden team has asserted, and the timeline for packing up these documents starts six months earlier.
