Texas on Saturday picked up a commitment from the No. 2 running back in the class of 2024.

Gibson made the announcement during a live stream on the popular social media network during another busy weekend for Texas coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff. The No. 2-ranked halfback in the nation out of IMG Academy was one of many recruits who flocked to Austin for official visits. "I just wanna say I appreciate you for having me here,” Gibson told Sarkisian. “Coming to meet me in my sophomore year, giving me a chance to be recruited. I just wanna say hook 'em, I'm committing to Texas.”
Gibson is the latest prized running back eager to tread the same path as former Longhorn greats Earl Campbell, Ricky Williams and Bijan Robinson. Top-ranked 2023 running back CJ Baxter joined the team in January as an early enrollee, and Robinson arrived in 2020 as a No. 1-ranked halfback who managed to exceed even he loftiest expectations in his three years at Texas.
