A man and his elderly mother were seriously injured in a crash that required the pair to be extricated from the man's Jeep after it struck a parked trailer of an 18-wheeler, authorities said.The crash occurred around 1 a.m. Tuesday near the intersection of Greens Crossing Boulevard and Tall Pine Valley Drive in north Houston, according to On Scene reporters.
“At 1 a.m. this morning we received a call about a major crash involving a black Jeep Wrangler and a parked 18-wheeler trailer,” said Sgt. B. Bondurant of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. According to Bondurant, who works in the vehicular crimes division, the man had been driving the Jeep with his mother in the passenger seat when it struck an 18-wheeler flatbed trailer that was not connected to a tractor.“The adult male’s mother severe trauma and was transported by ground ambulance to a local hospital,” Bondurant said. Her condition later was stabilized.
Her son, the driver, stayed at the scene to help with the investigation and he showed no signs of alcohol consumption.“The trailer is parked the wrong way on the roadway, therefore there are no rear reflectors visible to oncoming traffic here,” he said. “So that may be part of the , but we’ll do a full reconstruction looking into speed and stuff like that.”
