A wildfire ignited in the Sierra Foothills near Dutch Flat on Tuesday afternoon.
Caltrans said westbound Interstate 80 is closed at the Highway 20 junction. The California Highway Patrol's Truckee officeat 2:45 p.m. that eastbound I-80 is closed at the Gold Run rest area. Westbound 80 traffic is being diverted to Highway 20 through Nevada City and Grass Valley. Crews halted construction operations on Highway 20 this afternoon to increase road capacity.
"The closure will assist CALFIRE and local agencies with fire fighting operations and necessary evacuations," Caltrans wrote on Twitter.
