Dune: The Sisterhood, a prequel series to Dune, receives a positive filming update even as the SAG-AFTRA actors strike shuts down Hollywood.
Dune: The Sisterhood has received a positive filming update following the officiation of the SAG-AFTRA actors strike. Dune: The Sisterhood is set 10,000 years before the events of Denis Villeneuve's film adaptation of Dune, exploring the beginnings of the Bene Gesserits' history. Despite some prior setbacks, the prequel series has had positive developments indicating production will begin soon.
According to Deadline, production of Dune: The Sisterhood will restart in Budapest, Hungary soon, working through the WGA writers strike as well as the aforementioned actors strike. Dune: The Sisterhood is an Equity contract production, meaning not every actor in the series is part of SAG-AFTRA. Actors who are part of the Equity contract are still expected to film scenes for Dune: The Sisterhood, even as SAG-AFTRA goes on strike.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT Everything To Expect From Dune: The Sisterhood The Dune prequel series has faced its fair share of setbacks, including former lead actors Shirley Henderson and Indira Varma stepping down from their roles. Recently, though, Dune: The Sisterhood got a positive update, revealing Olivia Williams will play the lead role of Tula Harkonnen, while Jodhi May will step into the role of Natalya.
Dune: The Sisterhood will explore the origins of the Bene Gesserit, which was formed by Harkonnen Sisters. Because of its exploration of the Bene Gesserit's origins, it's unclear if Villeneuve's upcoming film, Dune: Part Two, will hint at what's to come in Dune: The Sisterhood. Even if Dune: Part Two doesn't directly address the prequel, it could still set up concepts that Dune: The Sisterhood can more thoroughly explore.
While Dune: The Sisterhood is still expected to film during the actors strike, there are some actors in the series who are part of SAG-AFTRA. This means that, even though filming for Dune: The Sisterhood will continue during the strike, not everything can be filmed. Even so, Dune: The Sisterhood will continue to film, likely shooting as many scenes as possible with only Equity actors.
