The driver of a Dodge Charger Hellcat crashed head-on into Stephen Gimmi, 43, a father of six, killing him in his minivan on his way to work.

Five seconds before impact, the Charger was driving at 177 mph with 100% accelerator pedal application, Chardo said. The car slowed down to 121 mph immediately before the crash.Three days before the fatal crash, Martin was pulled over and cited for driving 70 mph in a 50 mph zone, according to court documents. Police noted Martin was not wearing a seatbelt during that incident.
Martin also pleaded guilty to arson charges related to a mental health episode during which he had no intent to harm anyone, according to his public defender Kaitlyn Clarkson. The victim in that incident, Martin’s fiancee, stands by him, Clarkson said. Martin pleaded guilty to third-degree murder, homicide by vehicle while DUI, homicide by vehicle, possession of a firearm while prohibited, reckless driving and disregarding traffic lanes.
