Green, who podcasts on the side and is ever conscious of brand identity, appeared to advise the Ghirardelli employees to make sure their store signs were visible because, as Green noted, his stop was free advertising for the San Francisco chocolate company.
Whether he meant to or not, Green chose to stop at one of the only Bay Area fixtures with more name recognition than he has. Ghirardelli is a San Francisco institution that dates back to the Gold Rush and is the namesake for one of the city’s most famous tourist attractions.
