Former federal prosecutor Andrew Weissmann said it was “game over” for former President Donald Trump after audio was released Monday night of him discussing a “highly confidential” document with staffers.
Weissmann, previously one of special counsel Robert Mueller's top deputies in the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, told MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell that this case is not about the facts since the “tape recording is absolutely clear.”Weissmann added that this is now a matter of whether or not the government will start a trial before the general election and if the jury will “follow the law and the facts.
On Monday, CNN released audio of a meeting that took place in Bedminster, New Jersey, in 2021, capturing Trump discussing classified documents that he had taken with him after leaving the presidential office.
