New Doctor Who lead Ncuti Gatwa describes his character, the Fifteenth Doctor, and reveals that the crew 'couldn't keep up' with him on set.
Ncuti Gatwa describes the Fifteenth Doctor ahead of his Doctor Who debut, revealing that the crew "couldn't keep up" with him on set. Gatwa was cast as the next incarnation of the Doctor in May 2022, and will officially pick up the keys to the TARDIS in a seasonal special this fall. The actor will then be joined by Millie Gibson's new companion Ruby Sunday in Doctor Who season 14, where he will be joined by an all-star cast of new and familiar faces.
Now, Gatwa has revealed fresh details about the Fifteenth Doctor during an interview with Rolling Stone UK. When describing the character, Gatwa called him a vulnerable figure who hides his insecurity with humor, though it's not only dramatic with him. Check out Gatwa's full explanation below: SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY SCROLL TO CONTINUE WITH CONTENT “My Doctor is emotionally vulnerable. He hides it with humour, but he’s lonely. I can’t say much more than that; I don’t want to spoil anything. But he’s also energetic! The poor cameramen struggled to keep up.”
Ncuti Gatwa's Fifteenth Doctor Comments May Have Major Hints For Doctor Who's 60th Anniversary Specials Gatwa's description of the Fifteenth Doctor is the first proper idea of what he will be like, as despite showrunner Russell T Davies' transparency with filming, many details are still under wraps. During the filming of both the 60th anniversary and Doctor Who season 14, Davies has been forthcoming about new additions to the cast and costumes with official press releases.
While Gatwa's description of the Fifteenth Doctor suggests that his incarnation may be carrying an incredible amount of pain, it is clear that it hasn't stopped the actor from taking on an energetic approach, as seen during recent peeks at the Doctor Who season 14 set. Between acclaim for his performance in Sex Education and his Doctor's impressive wardrobe, Gatwa's solo season is highly anticipated, though thankfully, the first real introduction to him will come much sooner.
