cornerback Denzel Ward is “hitting all of his benchmarks” to be cleared from his concussion and face the Dolphins on Sunday in Miami, coach Kevin Stefanski said.

The timing would also be good because rookie cornerback Martin Emerson Jr., Ward’s replacement the last three games, missed Wednesday’s practice with an illness. Ward practiced for the second straight day Wednesday.
Stefanski raved about Hill, whom he says is being used in motion almost like in the Canadian Football League, where he’s at a full running start at the snap, and gets into the secondary in a hurry. The Browns’ safeties and cornerbacks will have to be sharp and communicating effectively this game.Emerson was among four players who sat out Wednesday due to illness or injury. The others were defensive lineman Perrion Winfrey , linebacker Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah and tight and David Njoku .
Njoku told cleveland.com it’s still his plan to play Sunday in Miami, but he’s not sure yet. Stefanski said he doesn’t know yet either, “but I wouldn’t rule him out.” Owusu-Koramoah and Njoku rode the exercise bikes during practice on Wednesday, along with Myles Garrett, Jadeveon Clowney, Amari Cooper and Joel Bitonio. The latter four were getting rest days to be ready for the game.
