Dry and windy conditions in the Denver metro Sunday made for dangerous fire weather, forecasters warned. cowx
The National Weather Service at Boulder issued red flag warnings for the city and its surrounding suburbs from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday, warning that any outdoor fires could spread quickly. Residents should avoid burning outside or making any sparks, the weather service warned.
The metro area will see sunny skies and warm temperatures Sunday, with highs in the upper 50s. The warm weather coupled with windy conditions — gusts up to 38 mph are expected — prompted the red flag warning, according to the weather service.“Over much of northeastern Colorado, current or recent snow cover will limit fire spread,” the warning reads.
While Denver sees warm and dry weather, some parts of the mountains will get blowing snow Sunday, according to the weather service. Mountains near Estes Park and to the north and west of the town will likely see blowing snow, making travel difficult, according to the weather service.
