Rev. Al Sharpton ripped fellow Democrats who are blaming Mayor Adams’ tough-on-crime policies for why the party suffered key midterm election losses.
Speaking before 100 people at his his National Action Network headquarters in Harlem, Sharpton said he’s “real mad” at progressive Democrats who’ve accused the more moderate Adams of helping Republicans at the polls simply by talking openly about rising crime rates., the first black man.” Sharpton said.
“And I’m seeing the same trend in the media and among some who call themselves progressives that attacked Dinkins with misinformation — that are attacking this mayor. “Some of us in the black community, we went for it — saying that David Dinkins played tennis too much, like there’s something wrong with staying in shape; that he shouldn’t have had on a tuxedo, like he was supposed to go to a formal affair in blue jeans.”Rudy GiulianiSharpton said Adams is getting treated like former Mayor Dave Dinkins — the first black mayor of New York City.
