Many Democratic leaders, operatives and officials are cautiously warming to the idea of President Joe Biden running for reelection in 2024, dozens of high-ranking Democrats told CNN.

But just like many voters and donors -- as poll after poll shows -- they're still not sure he should do it, or that he will. The mood has notably shifted among top Democrats in recent months. During the depths of Biden's political struggles in March, some party leaders from all over the country huddled in the hallways of the Hilton a few blocks from the White House for the annual Democratic National Committee meeting, according to four people involved in the conversations.
