The family of Eugene Gates Jr. says he's the postal worker who died in the Lakewood area on Tuesday. The heat index reached nearly 115 degrees.
A North Texas mail carrier is dead after passing out while on his route during the excessive heat.His family says he collapsed in someone's front yard, and the resident did try to perform CPR.
A statement from USPS says in part, "We are deeply saddened by the loss of life suffered yesterday involving a Lakewood post office letter carrier. Our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues at this time."This is a developing story. We will have the latest on FOX 4 News at 9 & 10.
