Crime Stoppers is offering $5,000 for tips leading to a felony arrest in the killing of Joseph Banales.

Witnesses told police that Banales had been swerving before the crash, almost hitting another car. His vehicle came to a stop after hitting the inside median. Police are searching for a dark blue Nissan 350Z or 370Z, a two-seater sports car, that has a loud aftermarket exhaust and possibly a spoiler. It was seen driving erratically near the crime scene.Banales, who was a member of the Army ROTC program at UIW, had just left a military ball and dropped off his girlfriend the night he was slain. He was also a graduate of St. Anthony Catholic High School, where he is remembered as an accomplished saxophonist in the school’s jazz band.
