The pair were trying to retrieve property they left during their last rescue when they needed to be rescued again.

“The two men were trying to retrieve equipment they’d been forced to leave on the ice from their previous ice rescue,” the sheriff said. The U.S. Coast Guard also responded and deployed an airboat and a helicopter. The men were found about a mile and a half into the bay and were in the water for just over an hour, the sheriff said.
