ICYMI: COVID-19: Hospitalizations up since Sask. switched to weekly reporting

The latest report from the Ministry of Health says 16 more deaths occurred last week, as well as four others in the weeks prior that went unreported until now.Thursday’s epidemiological report said hospitalizations are once again rising, with 324 patients in the province’s hospitals with COVID-19 as of noon Wednesday, 21 of them critically ill.

University of Saskatchewan epidemiologist Dr. Cordell Neudorf said in a recent interview that the lack of public health measures could set the stage for another spike in COVID-19 hospitalizations. The province reported that slightly less than 48 per cent of residents aged 12 and older had received a booster dose as of Saturday. As of March 25, a federal dashboard said Saskatchewan has the second-lowest share of adults who have received a booster dose among Canadian provinces, after Alberta. It also has the second-lowest rate of vaccination overall.
