COTA takes IT systems offline after hack earlier this week, says operations aren't affected but riders can't see real-time info on app.
The Central Ohio Transit Authority was still trying to rebound Thursday from an IT hack earlier this week.
COTA said"an outside organization" had accessed its network, forcing officials to take all of its IT systems offline. They remain offline, so people cannot reach COTA offices by phone or online. It also affects the Transit app in that riders can't see real-time information as to when buses are arriving, but riders can still download money onto the app, COTA spokesman Jeff Pullin said.
In a statement, the agency said fixed-route bus service, COTA Mainstream, COTA Mainstream On-Demand, and COTA//Plus will continue during regular operating hours.Pullin said that COTA is working with security experts to figure out what happened. He said that COTA employees will be paid on Friday. It also affects COTA Mainstream customers and their ability to book trips. COTA Mainstream customers should call 614-344-4488 for that.
