A man first demanded to be paid for candy and then stole other items from the victim's home, according to police.

Rutgers University police are trying to find a robber who used the victim’s phone to electronically transfer money out of the man’s bank account before stealing things from his residence on a different campus. The “extended incident” began around 7 p.m. near the corner of College Avenue and Hamilton Street in New Brunswick when the robber approached a man and attempted to sell him candy. When the man said he didn’t have money the robber took his phone “to complete a direct transfer of funds while displaying intimidating behavior,” according toThe victim later “provide additional items of value from his Livingston Campus residence,” police added.
