Consumer Warrior Clark Howard provides advice to prevent you from being the victim of an internet crime.
JACKSONVILLE, Fla — According to a report from the FBI, people lost $6.9 billion in 2021 from internet crimes. How can you make sure you’re not someone who’s affected? Consumer Warrior Clark Howard says one of the things you can do to prevent that from happening is to not use public wi-fi.
Clark says, “If you’re going to use public wi-fi, only do really innocent things. Don’t sign into things like your email, bank account or anything like that.” Clark adds if you put your computer on a public wi-fi, make sure you have all of the updates. “When you don’t do the updates, you lay yourself wide open...vulnerable to crooks.”
