Here's what you need to know about a city of Webster project to transform NASA Parkway...

Included in the city's 2023-2027 capital improvement plan , the project was guided by a committee of community members and stakeholders.

Using projects from other regions as a guide, the committee participated in a visual preference survey to identify priorities and goals. Construction began in March. The project area spans from Interstate 45 to Texas 3 and encompasses nearly 4,000 feet of roadway. Work will add pedestrian amenities, improve pavement infrastructure and install a median.

Because of deterioration of both asphalt and brick pavers, the project will replace the existing surface with a concrete road with raised medians and bike lanes. New sidewalks will be installed and existing light poles straightened and painted. Safety risks will be addressed in areas where trees are too close to electrical poles.NASA Parkway links the interstate to NASA’s Johnson Space Center, and according to the city, carries approximately 50,000 vehicles through the city daily.

Improvements to the corridor will increase pedestrian walkways, create public gathering areas and incorporate public parking lots on side streets.
