A rare 1928 Ford Tri-Motor airplane is making a four-day stop at the Capital City Airport in New Cumberland, June 22-25, 2023.
The Ford Tri-Motor first flew on Dec. 1, 1928, just 18 months after Charles Lindbergh’s historic solo flight across the Atlantic, and helped develop some of the first transcontinental commercial air services in the United States. Over the past 95 years, this plane went through several restorations and owners and was once even owned by Transcontinental and Western Air . In the 1930s it was part of the Grand Canyon Airlines fleet and then Boulder Dam Tours and spent most of the 1940s based in Compeche, Mexico.
