Research Highlight: Combining 47 human genomes into a single pangenome
Pangenome references overcome observation bias that arises from a reference genome that has been assembled from a single or small number of individuals.
These resources are widespread for staple crops, but have up to now been missing for the human genome. A paper infrom the Human Pangenome Reference Consortium presents a diploid pangenome resource comprising 47 genetically diverse individuals with over 99% sequence coverage and accuracy.
