Cole Carrigg’s calling card for professional baseball scouts is all-around athleticism that includes playing virtually anywhere on the field.
They have been conducting the MLB Draft since 1965 and Carrigg is the 225th players in the program’s history to be selected. Carrigg, who watched the draft on TV surrounded by family and close friends, probably still will be pinching himself when the draft ends. Carrigg was recruited out of Turlock High as a catcher. But SDSU had some depth at the position, so SDSU head coach Mark Martinez sent him to center field.
