Clarence Page writes: 'Some of the finest books I’ve ever read — or put on my to-be-read list — have been banned by somebody.'
Amanda Darrow, director of youth, family and education programs at the Utah Pride Center, with books that have been the subject of complaints from parents in Salt Lake City on Dec. 16, 2021. The wave of attempted book banning and restrictions continues to intensify, the American Library Association reported. Numbers for 2022 already approach last year's totals, which were the highest in decades.

That national movement to scrub “indoctrination” out of public schools has something to do with the news that more than 70% of the ALA’s reported 681 attempts to restrict library resources targeted multiple titles. In the past, most challenges to library resources only sought to remove or restrict a single book.
