The commission has come up with three options to add population to Ward 2 while reducing the number of people in Ward 7. These will be presented at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at a public event at City Hall.
Tittemore said public input helps make sure the commission hears from residents who have more in-depth knowledge of their communities than the commission does. “We want people to look at the wards and at first glance, they say, ‘Oh, yeah this makes sense, I can see why they are using this as a barrier,’ ” Tittemore said.
Wards 3, 8, 9 and 10 are all expected to have significant population growth in the next four years. Tittemore said this means a more robust round of ward boundary changes is likely to be needed before the 2028 election.
