U.S. officials are considering banning chocolate milk in elementary and middle school cafeterias, according to The Wall Street Journal. The proposed ban comes from the high sugar content in flavored milks. 🥛

First-grade students line up inside the cafeteria for lunch at School 11 in Jersey City, on Thursday, Dec. 9, 2021. U.S.

Another plan would stop short of a complete ban and instead allow options with no more than 10 grams of added sugars in each 8-ounce portions. More than 90% of those in the school milk processing industry agreed last month to adhere to the new sugar standards, according to the report. A decision on the flavored milk is expected in the coming year and would be implemented in 2025-2026 school year.
