A summer favorite is back! The Chinese Lantern Festival is once again lighting up Philly's Franklin Square. Here's what to know about the ticketed event.
What can visitors expect to see?
Visitors can check out 34 larger-than-life displays with more than 1,500 individual lighted sculptures, according to organizers. Among the highlights will be a 100-foot long sea dragon and 164-foot long fire-breathing dragon. New this year will be Friday and Saturday night Cultural Connections that will include dumpling workshops and meet and greets with the face changer.traditional Chinese performances including face-changing, acrobatics, juggling, dance and plate-spinning.Just how many lightbulbs does it take?
"25,000 LED lights , 2,500 flowers, and 180 animals are part of the magical creations in this year’s Festival," organizers said in a news release. The Chinese Lantern Festival is back in Franklin Square for the first time in three years. NBC10’s Brian Sheehan shows us the new additions to the illuminated display.Asian cuisine, American cuisine and the Dragon Beer Garden operated by Cescaphe will be open throughout the event, with favorites Oishii, Sang Kee and SquareBurger operated by Cooperage offering up eats.
