Classes may be finished, but beginning Tuesday, Chicago Public Schools will offer free meals to students at hundreds of school buildings throughout the city during the summer months.

CPS has launched its summer meals program, which provides free breakfasts and lunches to kids while school is out of session.

“As students head home for the summer, parents and family members look to our schools to keep students healthy and nourished,” CPS CEO Pedro Martinez said in a statement. “Our Nutrition team will continue to work with school leaders, families and community members to ensure our students have access to the meals they need where they are needed most.”

According to CPS, students participating in district summer programs — as well as those who simply live in the area served by those programs — will be able to access free meals at their local summer program site. Children 18 and under can also access free meals through CPS’ LunchStop program, even if they’re not enrolled in the school district or a summer program. LunchStop sites are open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.-noon between June 20 and Aug. 9.
