COSTA MESA — Austin Ekeler did not participate in the Chargers’ practices Wednesday or Thursday because of an ankle injury he suffered during their loss to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday at SoFi Stadium. His status for this weekend’s game against the Tennessee Titans is still to be determined.
Additionally, Ekeler started the ’23 season by rushing for a team-best 117 yards on 16 carries, averaging 7.3 yards per attempt against the Dolphins. His biggest gain was a 55-yard sprint through an enormous hole created by center Corey Linsley and right guard Jamaree Salyer. “Obviously, they’re one of the best,” Chargers offensive coordinator Kellen Moore said of the Titans’ defense. “They’ve been one of the best for a long time. It’s really, really challenging. They have excellent personnel. They have an excellent scheme. They’re really, really sound. They don’t give you anything easy. You’re going to earn everything in this league. It’s been a big challenge for us preparing for them.
