Friendswood finds footing after rugged pre-district softball schedule

“At the start of the season, we were very timid and a little scared,” said sophomore catcher Charleigh Esparza. “As we moved through the tournaments, we loosened up. Defensively, we’re communicating better, and we’ve had smarter at-bats.” “It was definitely a letdown to lose after starting like we did,” Friendswood junior shortstop Baileigh Burtis said. “We did a good job against Sidne Peters, who is a Washington commit. I think we just got a little down on ourselves late in the game. Our hitting plateaued, and theirs rose. They just had more energy than us at the end.”“I feel like we’re playing good, but we have to fix a few things,” she said. “We have a lot of talent, but we still haven’t played to our potential.
