Exclusive: Catherine de' Medici manipulates Mary, Queen of Scots in a new clip from the next episode of the STARZ historical drama TheSerpentQueen:
A clip from an upcoming episode of The Serpent Queen shows Catherine sharing a devastating secret with Mary, Queen of Scots. The series, which premiered on Starz on September 11, is the latest retelling of the exploits of the real-life historical figure and Medici family member Catherine de' Medici, who—alongside her husband King Henry IIV—ruled France from 1547 through 1559.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY This new series, which is based on Leonie Frieda's 2003 book Catherine de Medici: Renaissance Queen of France, seeks to retell her story with a much more adult flavor. The Walking Dead star Samantha Morton, who played the infamous character Alpha on the long-running zombies series, takes the lead as Catherine de' Medici. The show follows Catherine as she fights to keep her marriage and thus her queenship alive in the face of her husband's infidelity.
What To Expect From The Serpent Queen Episode 6 Episode 6 of The Serpent Queen, which is titled "The Last Joust," kicks off the beginning of the end of the season, as there will be only two more episodes left following its premiere. In this episode, Catherine has a dream that her husband will be wounded while jousting . She and Henri then decide that Francis' marriage to Mary should be delayed, which explains her actions in the clip shown above.
Historically speaking, Mary did eventually marry Francis. However, as The Serpent Queen means to show, very little happened under Catherine's watch that didn't meet her exact approval. The explosive historical events that follow Francis and Mary's marriage will provide plenty of fodder for the show to explore in the coming episodes, so fans of the show should stay on the edge of their seat waiting for what comes next.
