For starters, it’s fun to drive; with instant response from its electric motor, it feels more sprightly than most petrol-powered models in the Up line-up, and quicker than its 11.9sec 0-62mph time suggests. Yet it’s also by far the easiest Up to drive, thanks to there being no gearchanges to worry about.
Its interior is well built and roomier than you might expect: its boxy shape provides enough head room for a pair of six-footers in the back. The seats are comfortable, too, and everyone gets a good view out, thanks to its large windows. Although the e-Up’s official range is modest, at 160 miles, that’s still farther than the newer, pricier
will take you. With all this in its favour, being one of the cheapest electric cars you can buy is the icing on the e-Up’s cake.
