The mobile game Call of Antia is celebrating its one-year anniversary with a special new animated video, and offering rewards for new players. The RPG puzzle game is set in the eponymous realm of Antia, the last remaining world following a war between gods. Players utilize match-3 mechanics in the way of games like Bejeweled and Candy Crush to perform different attacks against enemies, building up a team of fighters with unique special moves.
Developer FunPlus, who's created multiple mobile games like Kings of Avalon, which recently featured Orlando Bloom in a live trailer, has released a new animated YouTube video for Call of Antia to celebrate its one-year anniversary. The video features Antia's hymn, "Bringer of Hope", and showcases many of its different characters. The animation shows heroes like the mage Alia, assassin Garabeth, and knight Malfort gathering to battle the dark forces.
Call of Antia also adds layers to its seemingly simple match-3 gameplay, where players move shapes of the same color on a grid, making these matches into different forms of attacks. Each enemy has their own elemental weaknesses, meaning some matches are stronger than others depending on the fight. Call of Antia also utilizes fun mana mechanics that give each fighter special skills, like healing and devastating attacks, that make team building more important.
While it would be patently untrue to say it's hard for players to find high-quality mobile games, even successful titles like the deckbuilding game Marvel SNAP, despite its many locations from the Marvel universe, don't contain much worldbuilding or storyline. Call of Antia is simple enough that players can pick it up in short bursts on the go, but it also allows for more strategically-minded players to get more depth out of the game than a typical match-3 puzzle title.
