A new poll found that roughly 40% of Californians want to leave the state, with many pointing to the economy as the reason.
The California Community Poll, organized by Strategies 360 and the Los Angeles Times, the Center for Asian Americans United for Self Empowerment, Hispanas Organized for Political Equality, and the Los Angeles Urban League uncovered a number of anxieties residents of the state face. It shows a sharp increase in the past few years, with results in many categories being much worse than in February 2020.
Concerns over the economy increased the growing dissatisfaction with the state; 43% of respondents said that the state was on the wrong track, an 11 percentage point increase from February 2020. Just 28% said the state was on the right track.The poll also revealed a major disconnect between conservative and liberal residents of the state, with overwhelmingly negative conservative responses helping to tilt the scale toward dissatisfaction.
The California Community Poll surveyed 1,354 Californians over the age of 18, from June 6-16, with an estimated margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points.
