Witnesses told police the man parked his car and was trying to help some ducklings that were in the busy intersection.
"He got out of the car and was shooing the ducks and everyone was clapping because he was being really nice," said William who took this photo with his cell phone. A man died Thursday night after he was hit by a car while helping ducks cross the road, according to police.
The Rocklin Police Department say it happened around 8:15 p.m. at the intersection of Park Dr. and Stanford Ranch Blvd. in Rocklin, northeast of Sacramento. A boy named William was in a car that was stopped at the intersection and started taking pictures with his cell phone. "He got out of the car and was shooing the ducks and everyone was clapping because he was being really nice," said William.
When the ducks were safely out of the street, the man turned to go back to his car and that's when a teenage driver hit the man in the roadway.Emergency first responders arrived to assist but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
