Palomar College is seeking its sixth state championship beginning with a first-round matchup against Folsom Lake . The Comets are the South’s top seed after sweeping a pair of best-of-3 playoff series. Folsom Lake is the No. 4 seed from the North after winning a Super Regional series last weekend.
Palomar is led by PCAC Pitcher of the Year India Caldwell with a 27-1 record, 0.66 ERA, 12 walks and 188 strikeouts in 160 IP; PCAC Player of the Year Aaliyah Rivas with a .443 BA, conference-leading 15 HR; and first baseman Allyson Amato with conference-leading .455 BA, 46 RBIs, 14 doubles. The rest of the 8-team field is Mt. SAC , Cypress and Cerritos from the South and Sierra , College of San Mateo and San Jose City from the North.
