Guyer jumped out to a strong start, scoring four runs in the second inning. Lauryn Jones delivered an RBI single, and Erin Love followed that with a two-run double. Love later scored on a wild pitch to give the Wildcats a 4-0 advantage. Bridgeland responded in its next time up as Haylie Stum came through with an RBI double and raced home on a single from Dani Lopez. Ellen Shull followed with an RBI double and knocked undefeated Guyer starting pitcher Finley Montgomery out of the game.
Guyer grabbed a 5-3 lead in the bottom of the frame as Briana Williams connected for an RBI single. The Wildcats added to their tally in the sixth when Love collected an RBI single. That was more than enough for reliever Jenny Robledo, who allowed two hits and zero walks over 3 ⅓ shutout innings.
