Freddy Peralta and three relievers combined on a one-hitter and the visiting Milwaukee Brewers used three solo home runs to record their third straight shutout over the Cincinnati Reds, 3-0, Saturday night.
Peralta allowed only a one-out, broken-bat infield single by Jake Fraley in the fourth inning, striking out six while issuing two walks to record Milwaukee's seventh win over Cincinnati in nine meetings this season.
Saturday's win allowed the Brewers to reclaim first place in the National League Central by a game over the Reds, who lost their third straight -- all by shutouts to the Brewers. Cincinnati suffered a third straight shutout loss for the first time since being blanked in three straight by Pittsburgh and Milwaukee, April 3-5, 2019. The Reds had won 20 of 24 before beginning a six-game series with the Brewers before the All-Star break.
William Contreras doubled Milwaukee's lead to 2-0 with another solo opposite field homer, his 10th, to open the fourth inning.
