Pearland won for the 24th time in its last 25 games, and rode yet another pitching gem, this time from junior Jaden Barfield.“I had to go out there and be great,” Barfield said. “There were a couple of pitches early on that were iffy, but once I got locked in, everything was there.“I feel like I’m living his dream right now, and hopefully we can win it all and bring that trophy home.”This time, the Oilers did just enough.However, the throw to second arrived late, leaving two runners on base.
“I trusted them all game, and they came through when it mattered. That’s what this team is all about.”
