, the winner of the 2014 Boston Marathon, read a dedication unveiling a new One Boston Day marker on the Boylston Street finish line. The emblem has three rings for those lost, injured, and affected. "In this emblem, we are reminded of the spirit of the people of Boston," he said. "For we are one Boston, and the finish line will always be home."
At 2:49 p.m.—the time of the bombing—the bell at the Old South Church rang and the crowd took part in a moment of silence. In the morning, people laid wreaths at the bombing memorial sites near the finish lime in honor of those who lost loved ones, including the five who were killed by the events of the day.
One Boston Day, as it's called, has become a day of remembrance each year on April 15.
