Body-camera footage shows sheriff's deputy shoot, wound man armed with a rifle in Fallbrook [Breaking]
Body-worn camera footage released Thursday shows a sheriff’s deputy shooting and wounding a 41-year-old man outside a Fallbrook home last week after the man pointed a rifle toward the deputy.
The first piece of body-worn camera footage is from the camera worn by McCormick. It appears to show his perspective as he and Soto arrive and speak to the woman — later identified as Sandoval’s wife — who called 911 outside of the house. McCormick opens fire with his weapon, shooting off six shots, the video shows. Sandoval falls to the ground. Investigators said later that he was shot in one of his legs and lower body.
The deputies give orders in English and Spanish for Sandoval to “roll away” from the rifle. Text on the video reads that the deputies were concerned that Sandoval might have concealed weapons on him, based on information provided by the man’s wife.Sandoval can be heard moaning on the ground. McCormick keeps his light trained on him.
