DeSoto police shared body-camera footage and 911 call audio that shed light on the moments before, during and after the fatal shooting Monday.
Police shared footage from officers and their vehicles as well as a 911 call where a woman reported a man was inside her home.
“He’s got a knife in his hand,” the officer says after shooting Nunez. Dashboard-camera photos show an object in Nunez’s right hand as he was shot, and footage shows an officer later bagging the object. It was not clear from the footage whether the officer who shot Nunez told him to drop the object. Costa said Friday that “when you listen closely, he does give commands to the subject to drop the weapon.”
