We chat with Spanish actor Mario Casas (mario_casas_) about how he approached his unique character in BirdBoxBarcelona, reuniting with Àlex and David Pastor, and expanding the world of the hit netflix film:
Netflix’s 2018 hit Bird Box finally has a sequel in Bird Box Barcelona, an exciting follow-up that takes place all the way across the ocean. Written and directed by Àlex and David Pastor, Bird Box Barcelona expands on the mythology of the original film in ways that help it stand apart from, and maybe even surpass, its predecessor.
Mario Casas spoke with Screen Rant about making his character empathetic, working with Alejandra Howard, and more. Note: Mario Casas’ answers were given in Spanish, then translated into English. I believe you worked with the writer and directors before on previous films. Did that make it a lot easier for you to come into this, and did your collaboration with them change in any way for this big-budget film?
